The design of Legacy Hall, the business college at Florida State University, needed to

align with the existing Jacobean architecture while also reflecting the state-of-the-art

learning environment it housed. BVB Architectural Muntins, also known as BAM, were

selected to deliver this look with surface-applied, fully fabricated muntin systems

engineered for both durability and visual impact.

Design Goals: Historic Renovation with Custom Glazing Solutions

Reflecting the campus’s Jacobean architectural character, the project called for muntin profiles that could replicate the look of true divided lites—without the added complexity or expense. Alternative componentized systems on the market failed to meet the project’s performance and durability requirements, while true divided lites exceeded the available budget. BAM’s glaze-in system offered the ideal balance of aesthetic authenticity, versatility, and long-term reliability.

Solution: Glaze-In Muntin Grids by BVB Products

For secure attachment and integration with curtain wall systems a glaze-in muntin

installation was selected:

  • System 1: Glaze-In

    • Perimeter: BAM-11

    • Muntin: BAM-01

The finish was primarily beige to match campus aesthetics, while a small

subset of muntins were finished dark gray to match a unique interior setting.

Installation Insights: Designed with Glaziers in Mind

The installation, completed by Rhyno Glass, benefited from BVB Product's fully assembled glaze-in muntin grids, which significantly streamlined the large-scale installation process. Unlike traditional stick-by-stick tape-on methods, where each muntin must be individually aligned and applied, the preassembled system ensured precision and efficiency. As with all BVB systems, the muntin grids were fully fabricated in the factory, eliminating the challenges of on-site component assembly. The glaze-in design also featured a perimeter profile that nested beneath the curtainwall pressure plates, creating a clean, seamless integration within the glazing system.

"Working with BVB Architectural Products was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Their team made the entire process seamless—communication was clear, customer service was exceptional, and they were incredibly easy to work with. The glazed-in muntins we purchased were not only beautiful but also arrived exactly as expected and were simple to install. It’s rare to find a vendor that delivers both a top-quality product and such a smooth experience. We look forward to working with BVB again on future projects."
